Piacenza is situated in the north of Italy, in the rich and fertile Po Valley, 65 km south of Milan. It lies on the right bank of the river Po, the longest river in the country.
Situated at the heart of the Po Valley, in the lush and fertile region of Emilia- Romagna, Piacenza is only 65 km away from Milan and 150 km from Bologna. It lies on the border between Lombardy and Piedmont, two of the most industrialised regions in the north, at a crucial crossroads for road and rail transport, both national and international. Thanks to its easy access from both the south and the north of the country, Piacenza has always been an important centre for commerce and transport.
Piacenza lies on the right bank of the river Po, in the south-west area of the Po Valley, in the left-hand corner of Emilia-Romagna, close to Lombardy and Piedmont. Its province covers a territory of over 2,500 square km on the hills of the Emilia Appennines, up to the border with Liguria.
